Dr. José Hidalgo is the medical director of Latin American Health Institute in Boston, Massachusetts. In July 2008, the Office of Refugee and Resettlement awarded him a grant to develop a national program to improve the capacity of the Division of Unaccompanied Children Services to deliver trauma-informed mental health services. Previously, he directed Project REACH, the only national program to offer specialized crisis mental health services to survivors of slavery, human trafficking, and sexual and labor exploitation. Dr. Hidalgo received his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine in 1990. He completed his medical internship at Massachusetts General Hospital and his psychiatry residency at Boston University School of Medicine. He is Board Certified in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
